Bengaluru Metro Phase 3A delayed to 2033

Namma Metro Phase 3A, a 37.8-km corridor connecting Hebbal and Sarjapur Road, is now expected to open in April 2033, two years later than planned.

The delay follows a revised Detailed Project Report (DPR) that reduced the project's cost from Rs 28,405 crore to Rs 25,999 crore through design changes.

Design modifications include shortened underground station platforms, reduced station sizes, and alignment adjustments to avoid a government building on Palace Road.

Several stations have been redesigned or shifted, including Dairy Circle interchange, Koramangala 2nd Block (shifted 52 metres), and Palace Guttahalli with added pocket tracks and turnouts.

The Union government requested the cost review by international consultancy Systra before granting final approval, with approval expected around October 2026.
