Eight officials were suspended at Arulmigu Koniamman Temple in Coimbatore, Tamil Nadu, for misappropriation of hundi funds.
Allegations surfaced after the scheduled counting process on July 15; HR&CE Regional Joint Commissioner Ramesh Kumar ordered the probe and suspensions.
Four suspects directly involved in theft are ticket collector A Balasubramaniyan (52), office assistant V Saravanan (34), cleaning staff P Pradeep Kumar (31), and priest S Krishnaraj (56).
The four accused moved an uncounted hundi to the back of the temple and took approximately ₹31,000 to divide amongst themselves.
This case follows similar embezzlement allegations at the Ram Temple in Ayodhya and Badrinath Dham temple in Uttarakhand.
