'To end discrimination against women': Taslima Nasreen calls for UCC implementation in India, Bangladesh and Pakisatn

Exiled Bangladeshi author Taslima Nasreen called for a Uniform Civil Code (UCC) in India, Bangladesh, and Pakistan to end discrimination against women.

Nasreen claimed Hindu women in Bangladesh cannot inherit their father's property and need equal rights under a UCC.

She expressed disappointment over the disruption at her felicitation ceremony in Kolkata, where poet Joy Goswami was forced off stage by protesters.

Nasreen emphasized the importance of freedom of expression, stating everyone should be allowed to speak.

She spoke at a press conference in Kolkata, where she returned after nearly two decades, and noted the BJP-led West Bengal government recently constituted a committee to examine a draft UCC.
