At least 31 civilians were killed in northeast DR Congo between July 22 and July 27, 2026, in attacks attributed to ADF fighters.
The attacks occurred in the Babila Babombi area of Mambasa territory in Ituri province, with 18 killed on July 24 in the mining village of Njiapanda-Bela.
The ADF, affiliated with the Islamic State, has been extorting 'protection' money from local communities growing cocoa and mining, charging $10 per person as tax.
More than 190 civilians have been killed since January 2026 in Babila Babombi, in areas where the ADF has not imposed its levy.
