NHAI wins major arbitration, Rs 3,177-cr claim cut to Rs 46 cr

NHAI won an arbitration case, reducing a contractor's claim from Rs 3,177 crore to Rs 46 crore.

The dispute involved the 151-km Bareilly-Sitapur BOT highway project in Uttar Pradesh, with concessionaire Bareilly Highways Project Limited.

The arbitral tribunal allowed only three of 30 claims and upheld a supplementary agreement signed on March 30, 2015.

NHAI's counterclaims were not accepted, but it successfully defended against the bulk of the claims, cutting financial exposure.
