Thane MACT awarded Rs 14.81 lakh in compensation to the family of Usha Deepak Bhakre, killed in a 2011 Mokhada jeep crash.

The tribunal held the driver solely liable for the accident, citing rash and negligent driving as the cause.

The accident occurred on June 23, 2011, when a Commander Jeep plunged 200 feet into a valley near Udhale village.

The insurer was directed to pay compensation with 7% annual interest and recover the amount from the vehicle owner.

The tribunal assessed the deceased's monthly income at Rs 7,000, adding future prospects to determine compensation.
