FBI-indicted Punjab cop arrested for alleged ₹3.8 crore extortion bid

Punjab police inspector Gurinderjit Singh Nagra arrested for allegedly extorting $400,000 (₹3.81 crore) from a family in Los Angeles.
Nagra was indicted by the FBI a week prior as part of 'Operation Hard Ball' for alleged links with gangsters like the Jaggu Bhagwanpuria gang.
The extortion case is related to the January 15 murder of Balwinder Singh in Tanda; Nagra had earlier announced arrests in that murder.
US attorney Bill Essayli said the US will seek Nagra's extradition after his arrest.
Nagra was suspended and departmental proceedings initiated; remanded in three days' police custody.
