Long term transformation comes from small decisions, says J&K CM at IIM Bangalore conclave
J&K Chief Minister Omar Abdullah said at the 10th IIMBue 2026 conclave that long-term transformation comes from small, consistent decisions that survive electoral cycles.
Abdullah argued that governments often prioritize headline-grabbing announcements and manifesto promises, but real change happens through smaller decisions that don't get headline news.
He stated that the government's role is to create predictable and transparent institutions that encourage people to take risks, invest, and build enterprises, calling confidence 'productive infrastructure'.
Abdullah said Jammu & Kashmir should not replicate Bengaluru's economic structure but should identify areas where its own strengths could create distinctive opportunities.
IIM Bangalore Director-in-charge Prof Dinesh Kumar reiterated plans to admit undergraduate students through the newly established Gorur Ratan Tata School of Undergraduate Studies, supported by a grant from Tata Trusts, and to open the first overseas campus in Indonesia.
