Letter from MP or MLA to be mandatory for ₹2,500 payout scheme for Delhi women

Delhi government's ₹2,500 monthly payout scheme for women now requires a letter of recommendation from the local MP or MLA.
The requirement could reduce the number of beneficiaries from the initially estimated 1.7 million under the Delhi Lakshmi Yojana.
Applicants must submit the recommendation letter along with Aadhaar, voter ID, photograph, signature, residence proof, and age proof.
The government says the mandate ensures transparency and involves public representatives in verifying credentials.
Home minister Ashish Sood said all MLAs from any party can verify documents, as done in most state welfare schemes.
