Former IATA chief Willie Walsh takes charge as IndiGo CEO

Willie Walsh took charge as CEO of IndiGo on Monday, Aug 3, 2026, after being appointed in March 2026.

Walsh previously served as CEO of British Airways (2005-2011), CEO of International Airlines Group (2011-2020), and director general of IATA.

Walsh began his aviation career as a pilot at Aer Lingus and later became its CEO in 2001.

IndiGo's managing director Rahul Bhatia said Walsh's global experience will help accelerate IndiGo's international expansion strategy.

As CEO, Walsh will lead IndiGo's overall management and strategic direction, focusing on accelerating global growth.
