Ludhiana: Parking contract expires, railway police flag security concerns

Parking contract at Ludhiana railway station expired about 10 days ago, leaving three parking lots at the main entrance, Kali Mata Mandir side, and Civil Lines side without a contractor.

The previous contract generated nearly ₹70,000 per day in revenue; the Railways are now losing an estimated ₹21 lakh monthly.

Government Railway Police (GRP) SHO Jatinder Singh flagged security concerns, warning of potential breaches due to unattended parking areas.

Railway officials claim staff have been deployed to monitor parking, but GRP says areas are effectively unattended and wrote to the station director and superintendent for action.

Tenders for a new contract were floated twice but not finalized due to procedural reasons, with no concrete solution yet.
