'Had gone just to ask for money': Accused in Delhi IRS officer's daughter's rape-murder tells cops

Rahul Meena, a former domestic help, was charged with the rape and murder of a 22-year-old IRS officer's daughter in Delhi.

Meena entered the victim's home early on April 22 using a spare key; he had been dismissed in February for financial misconduct.

He raped and strangled the victim with a mobile phone charging cable after she resisted his demand for money, then stole ₹2-2.5 lakh.

Fingerprints, palm prints, thumb impressions, and DNA from the crime scene matched Meena; 82 witnesses are listed in the 973-page chargesheet.

Meena told police he went 'just to ask for money' and the crime 'just happened'; he had gambling debts of ₹5-7 lakh.
