AIADMK seeks Assembly speaker to take action against former MLAs under Anti-Defection Law

AIADMK urged Assembly Speaker J C D Prabhakar to act against former MLAs who defected to Tamilaga Vettri Kazhagam under the Anti-Defection Law.

AIADMK whip Agri S S Krishnamurthy submitted additional clarifications to the Speaker on a prior complaint.

Four AIADMK MLAs — Maragatham Kumaravel, S Jayakumar, P Sathyabama, and Esaki Subaya — resigned and joined TVK on May 25.

Former minister and AIADMK MLA Thalavai Sundaram said defection warrants action even after resignation, as MLAs were elected on AIADMK's two-leaves symbol.

Sundaram alleged the resignations were for ministerial berths and that a petition seeks to stop further defections.
