Samant announces ₹18 crore for 100th Akhil Bharatiya Marathi Sahitya Sammelan

Maharashtra government earmarked ₹18 crore for the 100th Akhil Bharatiya Marathi Sahitya Sammelan, to be held at Savitribai Phule Pune University (SPPU) in January.

Marathi language minister Uday Samant announced ₹5 crore for the centenary literary convention and ₹5 crore for 99 prelude literary conventions across India.

₹2 crore will be raised through CSR funds for 12 literary conventions abroad, and 13 universities will each receive ₹25 lakh for youth literary conventions.

The government will set up a translation committee named after late former chief minister Yashwantrao Chavan to translate literature into Marathi.

The state Marathi Development Institute handed over a cheque of ₹1 crore to the Maharashtra Sahitya Parishad (MaSaP).
