Ex-intelligence sub-inspector found with gunshot wound, dies on way to hospital in UP

Retired LIU sub-inspector Ramjeet (65) died after shooting himself with his licensed single-barrel gun at his home in Unnao, UP.

The incident occurred around 11:30 pm; family heard a gunshot and found him critically injured, but he died en route to a hospital in Kanpur.

Ramjeet had retired from the local intelligence unit in 2021 and was living with his son Abhishek in PD Nagar, Unnao.

Police seized the licensed gun; Circle Officer Vini Singh and SHO Chandrakant Mishra are investigating, with post-mortem and forensic analysis pending.

His son stated Ramjeet had been under mental stress; his wife had died earlier.
