K’taka issues guidelines: Feed pigeons only at notified spots

  1. Karnataka issued a circular restricting pigeon feeding to designated zones managed by authorised NGOs between 7 am and 9 am.

  2. Feeding is banned on roads, footpaths, medians, apartment terraces, balconies, rooftops, and near airports.

  3. NGOs must manage feeding at designated zones, including hygiene, waste disposal, and preventing overcrowding.

  4. Only approved grains are allowed; cooked food, bread, and food waste are prohibited.

  5. The health department warned that dried droppings and feathers can cause respiratory issues, especially in vulnerable groups.
