India name 20-member squad for Hockey World Cup, Harmanpreet Singh to lead

India named a 20-member squad for the FIH Men's Hockey World Cup, led by captain Harmanpreet Singh.

Four players from the Pro League squad—Amandeep Lakra, Raj Kumar Pal, Rabichandra Singh Moirangthem, and Selvam Karthi—were omitted due to squad-size limits.

India finished eighth in the FIH Pro League and ninth in the 2023 World Cup; they have not won a medal since their lone title in 1975.

The squad includes goalkeeper Mohith HS, defenders Jarmanpreet Singh and Amit Rohidas, midfielders Manpreet Singh and Hardik Singh, and forwards Mandeep Singh and Dilpreet Singh.

India are in Pool D with England, Pakistan, and Wales, playing group matches in Amstelveen, starting August 15 against Wales.
