Captive, commercial coal production rises 9.61% YoY in July 2026

Coal production from captive and commercial blocks was 14.78 million tonnes (MT) in July 2026, a 9.61% year-on-year increase.

Coal dispatches from these blocks reached 17.49 MT in July 2026.

Cumulative production for the financial year through July 2026 stood at 63.16 million tonnes.

The Coal Ministry attributed the growth to higher operational efficiency.

The increased production is aimed at reducing India's import dependency.
