Kharar residents submit memo to SDM, urge to solve sewer overflow issue

Residents of Eden City and Darpan City-3 in Kharar submitted a memorandum to SDM Kharar on July 31, 2026, demanding a permanent solution to a sewer overflow that has lasted three to four months.
The overflow at the colonies' only entry/exit point has affected around 150-200 families and created difficulties for commuters, school children, and elderly residents.
The memorandum alleges blockage in the main sewer line caused by broken concrete manhole covers that fell in and were not removed before new ones were installed.
The delegation urged authorities to clean the entire sewer network using specialized machinery and remove debris, covers, sand, and plastic waste to prevent recurrence.
The delegation was led by Punjab BJP state media head Vineet Joshi and included residents and social activists.
