About 8% of sheep exhibit exclusively homosexual behavior, making them 'unprofitable' for breeding in conventional agriculture.

Profits from Rainbow Wool sales and collaborations support the LSVD+ foundation, which aids refugees fleeing homophobic persecution.

The project was founded in 2023 by Michael Stucke and Nadia Leytes; later joined by Michael's husband Johan.

Stucke, who is gay himself, aims to challenge prejudices and highlight the naturalness of homosexuality.
