Indian diaspora in China flags visa, social media concerns at embassy's first Open House in years

Indian diaspora in China raised concerns about abusive anti-India content on Chinese social media at the Indian Embassy's first Open House in years.

They also flagged declining work visas for Indian professionals and restrictions on employment for spouses.

Indian Ambassador Vikram Doraiswami said the embassy will simplify visa documentation for Chinese nationals starting next week.

Doraiswami noted the Chinese government is taking steps against abusive content and the embassy is countering misinformation via social media.

The embassy plans more cultural events and a mechanism with legal professionals to assist Indians with work-related issues.
