US sanctions alleged leader of Mexico's Jalisco New Generation drug cartel

The United States announced sanctions targeting over 50 Mexican individuals and entities linked to the Jalisco New Generation Cartel (CJNG).
Dual US-Mexican national Juan Carlos Gonzalez, also known as "Pelon," is identified as the new leader of CJNG after the killing of previous chief "El Mencho" (Nemesio Oseguera).
CJNG is described as an ultra-violent paramilitary gang involved in extortion, money laundering, and global drug trafficking.
The sanctions target individuals and companies used by CJNG to launder or conceal assets, including an alleged cocaine trafficking network and fuel smuggling operations.
Gonzalez is charged in a US federal drug trafficking case, with a $5 million reward offered for information leading to his arrest or conviction.
