June jobless rate remains at 5.5%, but women find it hard to get work

National unemployment rate remained steady at 5.5% in June.

Female unemployment rose to 5.9%, while male jobless rate fell to 5.3%.

Female labour force participation rate declined for the fourth consecutive month to 32.7%.

The drop in female LFPR was largely due to a sharp fall in rural areas, from 40% in February to 36.6% in June.

Overall LFPR remained unchanged at 54.4% in June, marginally higher than 54.2% a year earlier.
