Mackenzie Shirilla update: Why prosecutors say her latest appeal deserves another 'no' at Ohio Supreme Court

Mackenzie Shirilla is serving a 15-years-to-life sentence at the Ohio Reformatory for Women for double murder.

The Cuyahoga County Prosecutor's Office has asked the Supreme Court of Ohio to reject Shirilla's motion for reconsideration, arguing it repeats previously rejected arguments.

Prosecutors said Shirilla's motion does not raise any new material issue and cannot be used to reargue a case.

The Ohio Supreme Court rejected Shirilla's earlier appeal on June 23, citing a missed filing deadline.

Shirilla's lawyers filed for reconsideration on July 7, claiming the filing deadlines were confusing.
