Students rename classrooms at Indian school

Students at Government High School in Badaga Yekkar, Mangaluru, renamed classrooms and rooms with Sanskrit, Kannada, Hindi, and Tulu words as part of a summer camp competition.

New nameplates include: Teachers’ Room – Abhijnalaya (abode of knowledge); Library – Jnandatri (nurturing knowledge); Auditorium – Panchajanya (symbol of courage); Science Laboratory – Anveshika (search and research); Headmistress’ Office – Sumeru (symbol of excellence).

Classrooms were renamed as Prabodha, Subodha, Pramedha, Sumedha, Prajnana, and Sujnana, each representing concepts like enlightenment and wisdom.

The camp was organized by the school’s Literary Club under directives from the Union Ministry of Education, DSERT, and the Department of Education.

Retired headmistress Rajeshwari said nameplates serve as symbols of inspiration and responsibility for students to uphold the badge of honor.
