Jordan Devey's cause of death: Former NFL guard's family breaks silence, 'Incredibly difficult and heartbreaking'

Former NFL guard Jordan Devey, a Super Bowl champion with the New England Patriots, died by suicide at age 38.

Devey played 44 regular-season games, including 21 starts, across seven NFL seasons with the Patriots, San Francisco 49ers, Kansas City Chiefs, Las Vegas Raiders, and Buffalo Bills.

His family believes he may have suffered from chronic traumatic encephalopathy (CTE), a degenerative brain disease linked to repeated head trauma.

Devey is survived by his wife Linsey, their four children, and his parents.

His wife Linsey paid tribute on what would have been their 15th wedding anniversary, recalling his final words: 'We'll talk soon.'
