Cloudburst damages structures in Kishtwar; rain halts Amarnath Yatra

Cloudburst-triggered flash floods in Kishtwar's Chatroo area damaged shops, houses, and the Kishtwar–Chatroo–Sinthan national highway.

Two vehicles were washed away, and four to five shops and around three houses were damaged; no casualties reported.

The Amarnath Yatra was suspended from Jammu's Bhagwati Nagar base camp as the Jammu–Srinagar NH remained closed for the second day due to rain.

Schools were shut in Doda, Poonch, and Ramban districts as a precaution.

Union minister Jitendra Singh said affected shopkeepers and business owners will receive compensation per government relief norms.
