Footpaths still double up as garbage transfer points in Bengaluru

Garbage transfer on footpaths in Bengaluru continues to obstruct pedestrians, forcing them onto busy roads.

Bengaluru Solid Waste Management Ltd (BSWML) plans 30 permanent transfer stations across the city to eliminate roadside waste transfer.

Three stations are operational in Chamarajpet, BTM Layout, and Sarvagnanagar; two more are under construction in Vasanth Nagar and Vijayanagar.

Each station costs Rs 11-14 crore, funded by the state government and the Centre's Swachh Bharat Mission.

Upcoming stations will not include automatic waste segregators due to budget constraints and slow processing speed.
