Smart meter glitch hits 30,000 Lucknow consumers

Over 30,000 electricity consumers in Lucknow face a billing blackout due to unresolved errors linked to smart meter installations.

The glitch stems from replacement of conventional meters with smart meters whose numbers were not updated in the billing software in thousands of cases.

Affected zones include Amausi (11,000 consumers), Jankipuram (8,000), Gomti Nagar (6,000), and Lucknow Central (5,000).

Thousands of complaints through the LESA helpline (1912) remain pending, leaving consumers without bills for months.

Consumers fear accumulated bills and higher charges due to slab increases once the glitches are fixed.
