DP World plans new Fujairah port outside Strait of Hormuz

DP World is planning a new multipurpose port and container terminal in Fujairah, outside the Strait of Hormuz.

The project aims to create a secure alternative route for cargo entering the UAE, bypassing the Strait of Hormuz.

Jebel Ali traffic dropped 90-95% during the conflict that began on February 28.

The conflict made maritime traffic through the Strait of Hormuz dangerous due to missile attacks, drones, naval mines, and military activity.

The new port would fundamentally change how cargo enters and leaves the Gulf.
