HDK inspects HMT land, seeks report on land transfer

Union Minister HD Kumaraswamy inspected Hindustan Machine Tools (HMT) factory land in Bengaluru and sought a report on alleged illegal transfer of 175 acres to private entities.

Kumaraswamy accused the state government of obstructing HMT's revival package and alleged that apartment complexes were built on land earmarked for industrial use.

He claimed that as CM in 2006, he halted further alienation of HMT land and that apartment owners on disputed land have not received khatas due to unresolved legal issues.

Without naming DK Shivakumar, Kumaraswamy alleged that the current CM, as urban development minister between 1999 and 2004, played a key role in transferring HMT land to private entities.
