Musk regrets DOGE role, says he got carried away

Elon Musk admitted he 'got carried away' with political involvement, saying he should have focused on his companies instead of leading the Department of Government Efficiency (DOGE).

Musk backed Donald Trump's 2024 presidential campaign with approximately $200 million before being appointed to head DOGE, which oversaw federal spending cuts and layoffs.

Musk stated in an interview with The Economist that he would have preferred to work on Tesla rather than DOGE, repeating a similar admission from a December podcast.

Musk predicted that AI and humanoid robots will make human work largely optional within five years, with AI surpassing combined human intelligence.

He proposed 'universal high income' as a future system where governments issue cheques as AI automates jobs and creates deflation.
