Dreaming of a career in Japan? The JET programme by Japan Embassy opens doors for Indian graduates

The JET programme, conducted by the Government of Japan since 1987, recruits Indian graduates to work as Assistant Language Teachers (ALTs) and Coordinators for International Relations (CIRs) in Japan.

The Japan Embassy in India bid farewell to the 2026 JET cohort, comprising 22 ALTs and 4 CIRs, before their departure to Japan.

Approximately 1,000 local public organisations, including 46 prefectures and 18 designated cities, employ JET Programme participants.

Applicants must be Indian citizens with a bachelor's degree, strong interest in Japan, and willingness to adapt; Japanese language proficiency is mandatory for CIR positions (JLPT N2) but optional for ALTs.
