The Pune Municipal Corporation (PMC) approved ₹14 crore procurement of petroleum-based materials to speed up pothole repairs.
The Yerawada hot mix plant in Pune will get a steady supply of asphalt for pothole filling and road maintenance during the monsoon.
PMC will procure VG-30 grade bitumen, light diesel oil, emulsion, roadbond, and thermic oil from HPCL, BPCL, and Hindustan Colas Pvt Ltd.
The approval follows a week-long shutdown of the Yerawada plant due to bitumen shortage, which disrupted road repairs.
The procurement includes thermic oil for the new Parker batch mix plant at Yerawada, needed to maintain asphalt temperature during production.
