Meghalaya landslide kills 7-year-old boy, injures four family members: Police

A seven-year-old boy, Pynhun Umbah, died and four family members were injured in a landslide in Meghalaya's Ri-Bhoi district.

The landslide occurred around 4 am at Umlamphlang village when a hillside collapsed onto the house of Stolin Khymdeit.

Ri-Bhoi superintendent of police Giri Prasad M said preliminary inquiry revealed the landslide was caused by heavy overnight rainfall.

Injured family members include the father Stolin Khymdeit (40) and three siblings, admitted to Umtrai Primary Health Centre.

Family declined post-mortem, citing no suspicion of foul play; body was handed over for last rites.
