Florida man tries to sell 'rare turtle shell' on Facebook

A Florida man listed a 'rare turtle shell' on Facebook Marketplace for $2,700.

The shell was identified as belonging to an Atlantic hawksbill sea turtle, a protected species.

Wildlife officers from the Florida Fish and Wildlife Conservation Commission investigated and seized the shell from a Lake Worth Beach residence.

The man, Addison Mullen, 63, was charged with a third-degree felony for offering to sell part of a protected marine species.

Atlantic hawksbill sea turtles are protected under the Marine Turtle Protection Act and the Endangered Species Act.
