Aamir faces fatwa after marrying Gauri; cleric objects to interfaith marriage
Maulana Ibrahim Hussain, Shahi Chief Mufti of Muslim Personal Darul Ifta, issued a fatwa against Aamir Khan over his marriage to Gauri Spratt, calling it impermissible under Sharia because Spratt is not a Muslim.
The cleric stated that a Muslim man marrying a non-Muslim woman is haraam (forbidden) and a sin, and that those who do not accept it as sinful will be answerable to Allah.
Aamir Khan married Gauri Spratt, a Bengaluru-based entrepreneur, in a private registered ceremony under the Special Marriage Act on July 5, 2026.
This is Aamir Khan's third marriage; he was previously married to Reena Dutta (divorced 2002) and Kiran Rao (separated 2021).
Neither Aamir Khan nor his representatives have responded to the cleric's remarks or the reported fatwa.
