Delhi govt eases rooftop solar rules to boost adoption

The Delhi Electricity Regulatory Commission (DERC) amended net metering regulations to boost rooftop solar adoption.

The application process is streamlined from three stages to two, merging registration, document verification, inspection, and meter installation.

Fees for technical feasibility assessment and registration are removed for domestic rooftop solar installations up to 10 kW.

Discoms must complete technical feasibility studies within 15 days, or approval is deemed granted.

Physical connection agreements are replaced with digitally executed agreements to reduce delays.
