Punjab: Jolt to AAP govt as HC stays funds diversion for Mawan Dheeyan Yojana
Punjab and Haryana high court stayed diversion of funds from a construction workers' welfare corpus to the Mukh Mantri Mawan Dheeyan Satkar Yojana.
The scheme, launched on July 1, provides ₹1,000 per month to general category women and ₹1,500 per month to Scheduled Caste women.
Finance minister Harpal Singh Cheema had earmarked ₹9,300 crore for the scheme in the March 8 budget.
The petition by Dr Ambedkar Workers Union argued the fund diversion from the Building and Other Construction Workers Welfare Board was illegal.
The court sought responses from the Centre and state government by the adjourned date.
