Noida: 83-yr-old woman duped of ₹18.50 lakh in cyber fraud

An 83-year-old woman in Noida's Sector 30 was duped of ₹18.5 lakh in a cyber fraud.

Fraudsters posing as telecom officials and Maharashtra police threatened her with arrest in fake money laundering cases.

She was instructed to deposit her savings into 'government-designated' accounts to avoid arrest, transferring ₹18.5 lakh in two transactions.

The victim approached police after the fraudsters continued to call her demanding more money.

A case was registered at the Cybercrime Branch police station under sections of BNS and IT Act; investigation is ongoing.
