Former Travancore Devaswom Board president P S Prasanth fears arrest in the Sabarimala gold theft case and alleges political vendetta.
The Special Investigation Team is probing two cases related to gold lost from Dwarapalaka idols and doorframes of Sabarimala temple after electroplating in 2019 and 2025.
Prasanth claimed the Devaswom Board functioned honestly and helped bring the 2019 case to light, but is now also an accused.
He stated the quantity of gold in the sculptures increased after restoration in 2025, with no financial loss to the board.
Prasanth said the repair process began before his board assumed office, based on complaints of cracks causing injuries and ritual impurity.
