in5points
IMD’s Chandigarh director Surender Paul says the monsoon axis has shifted eastwards, reducing rainfall in Chandigarh.
A weakened western disturbance and a dry air system will prevail over the region for about a week.
Monsoon rain will continue mostly in northeast India, according to the India Meteorological Department.
Temperatures rose with a maximum of 36.1°C on July 13, 1.8°C above normal, and a minimum of 26.2°C.
El Niño system has largely remained absent so far, contributing to the dry spell.
