Chase Burns lands massive 7-year, $105 million extension with Cincinnati Reds

The Cincinnati Reds signed pitcher Chase Burns to a 7-year, $105 million contract extension through the 2033 season.

The deal is the largest contract ever given to a pitcher who has not reached arbitration.

Burns, 23, is 11-1 with a 2.54 ERA and 118 strikeouts in 102.2 innings in his first full MLB season.

His fastball averages 97.9 mph, the second-hardest among MLB starters, and his slider is among baseball's best.

Burns was the second overall pick in the 2024 draft out of Wake Forest and reached the majors after 66 minor-league innings.
