Man, 30, hacked to death in Hyderabad; police suspect hate crime

year-old Chinnapalli Bhaskar was hacked to death by five men in Hyderabad's Madhapur area on Tuesday night, police suspect a hate crime.

The attack occurred around 11pm on Wednesday at a hostel in Ayyapa Society, where Bhaskar was staying; the men called him outside and attacked him with knives and sticks.

Bhaskar, a chef from Warangal district, had been in a relationship with a woman from the same village; her family opposed it due to different castes and married her off three years ago.

The woman's father allegedly blamed Bhaskar for the breakdown of her marriage, which ended in divorce, and threatened revenge.

Police have registered a murder case based on a complaint by Bhaskar's brother Madhu and are questioning the woman.
