Pet dog helps crack 2021 Mohali murder case; man gets life term

Jagir Singh was sentenced to life imprisonment by a Mohali court for the 2021 murder of goat farmer Sucha Singh.

The victim's pet dog Rocky led family members to a pit where Sucha's T-shirt and later his headless body were found.

The motive was Jagir owing ₹40,000 to Sucha for the purchase of two goats and four lambs.

Two other accused, Desraj and Satnam Singh, were acquitted.

The court rejected the prosecution's plea for capital punishment, stating the case was not 'rarest of rare'.
