in5points
Delhi government decided not to take over maintenance of the Munak Canal from Haryana.
Haryana will retain maintenance and construct a new pressurised pipeline to carry Yamuna water to Delhi.
The pipeline will run from Munak Regulator to Haiderpur water treatment plant, with a capacity of 1,050 cusecs.
Project cost is estimated at ₹7,240 crore, based on a pre-feasibility study by IIT Roorkee.
The pipeline aims to reduce water losses and ensure reliable supply to Delhi's treatment plants.
