One dead, 26 injured in private bus accident in Kerala’s Malappuram

A private bus on the Kozhikode-Thrissur route overturned near Kuttipuram in Kerala’s Malappuram district, killing one person and injuring 26 others.

State Transport Minister C P John announced a separate inquiry by the transport commissioner in addition to police investigation.

Three of the injured were still undergoing treatment in the hospital and were in stable condition.

The bus skidded and overturned after the driver lost control at high speed, and rain may have contributed to the accident.

Residents and police alleged the accident was caused by the unscientific design of the road, which narrows as it descends near Kuttipuram.
