Eala stuns Osaka to book Washington final against Pegula

Alexandra Eala stunned Naomi Osaka 6-4, 6-2 to reach the Washington Open final.

The 21-year-old Philippines left-hander will face top-seeded Jessica Pegula.

Eala, ranked 28th, previously defeated Elina Svitolina and Leylah Fernandez en route to the final.

Pegula eliminated Diana Shnaider 7-5, 6-4 and is seeking her 12th career WTA title.

Pegula leads Eala 1-0 in their career meetings, having won their 2025 Miami semi-final.
