Who is Sofia Ann-Buitron Drotts? California juvenile detention therapist arrested for sex with underage client

Sofia Ann-Buitron Drotts, 26, of San Francisco, faces seven felony counts in Contra Costa County, including oral copulation of a person under 18, sending harmful matter to a minor, and possession of child sexual abuse material.

Drotts was a mental health clinician at John Davis Juvenile Detention Center in Martinez, where she allegedly served as the victim's therapist.

Prosecutors allege the sexual relationship began after the teenager's release, but the victim's family attorney John Burris claims grooming started while the victim was incarcerated at age 17.

The victim's family has filed a lawsuit against Contra Costa County, alleging failure to protect the adolescent from abuse.

Drotts was arrested by Concord Police on July 14 after a tip from a probation department supervisor; she has not entered a plea, and arraignment is pending.
