SC to examine plea to ease green-cracker ban
in5points
Supreme Court agreed to examine a plea to relax its order on the sale of green crackers in India.
The plea was filed by a cracker manufacturer association, citing employment of lakhs of workers.
Additional Solicitor General Aishwarya Bhati argued that the entire country cannot be viewed from the prism of Delhi's pollution crisis.
SC asked all parties to propose a solution balancing pollution control and industry employment.
The court noted that different government agencies are not aligned on allowing production and sale of new-generation crackers.
